If you’re wondering how to get the most out of your weekend, then you’re in the right place! Here are 9 easy ways to make the most of your weekend so you’re prepared for the week ahead and you won’t have to worry about any Sunday scaries.
See Your Friends & Family
If you’re an introvert like me it’s easy to be a little homebody each weekend, but I realize I am happier when I carve out time for family and friends. And that doesn’t mean you have to go out to bars or spend a lot of money. Catching up with friends can happen through dinner parties, movie nights in, game nights, working out together, etc. And the weekends are a great time to have a weekly call with a parent especially if you don’t live close & see them often.

Enjoy Fresh Air
I’m at an office most of the week and during the winter there are definitely days when I go into the office while it’s dark and leave when it’s dark again. I haaaate it, but some days that’s just how my schedule goes. So, on the weekends, I make it a priority to get a few moments outside, even when it’s cold. Sometimes I go for a walk, run an errand for something close by or just do some yard work. Our bodies crave fresh air and sunshine, so make sure to get it when you can.
Side Hustle or Hobby
If you’ve got a side hustle or a hobby, carve out some time on the weekend to work on it. Too often we get caught up in the chores and other obligations and don’t make time for the things we love. So, schedule into your weekend and make it a non-negotiable to spend some time on it.
Move!
If your 9-5 involves sitting at a desk most of the day like me, then you know you need to make the most of your days off to move your body. Find whatever workout it is that you like and go do it.

Turn Off the Tech
Put your phone in a drawer and step away from the Netflix. You don’t want to spend your entire weekend staring at another screen, right? There’s obviously time for social media and Netflixing, but give yourself a break from the tech too.
Let Yourself Rest
Catch up on your zzzz’s and give your body some extra rest if needed. But be careful not to overdo it and sleep the day away. I know I feel much better when I get enough sleep and then start accomplishing things off my to do list. Listen to your body and nap or rest as needed.
Try Something New
Break up the monotony with something novel. Try a new restaurant, book, recipe, workout, fitness class, movie, coffee shop, etc. Trying something new keeps things fresh and always makes me feel like I really accomplished something over the weekend. Sometimes I get stuck in my routines, and it really improves my mood if I try even just one new thing.

Prep for the Week Ahead
I prep my meals for at least 2-3 days of the week on Sunday afternoon and get caught up on laundry along with other household chores. I try to get this done earlier in the day as well as completing some of the chores on Saturday so that I can enjoy my Sunday evening relaxing. By prepping things out for at least Monday, my week will be off to an easier start which hopefully sets the stage for the rest of the week too.
Reflect on Your Goals & Progress
Set aside at least 10 minutes to reflect on your progress towards your goals and evaluate things. You may need to adjust things or just take a moment to remind yourself how far you’ve come and set yourself up for continued success.
While all the above can be done during the week too I often find my days get away from me at the office and then I’m on to the next task. By taking time during the weekends (and weekdays where I can,) to appreciate the parts of my life outside of my office/career I find that I’m much happier, less stressed and excited to start each day.
Tell me how you make the most of your weekends!
