Fun Engagement Party Games
An engagement party is a celebration of a couple and brings together their friends, loved ones and even family together for what could be the first time.
It’s a way for the couple to share the news about their engagement and upcoming nuptials and bring their loved ones together in a wedding related event. It’s also an opportunity for the potential bridal parties to bond with one another.
All of this means that planning the engagement party is exciting, but it can also be a bit overwhelming.
So today, I’m sharing a big list of fun, easy and interactive engagement party games to hopefully make some of this planning easier for you!
Easy Engagement Party Games
Wedding Mad Libs
Use an online template to create a wedding themed mad libs about the couple. You can set these up at the tables for guests to fill out while waiting for the party to get started and to mingle with each other.
Jenga Love Notes
Set up a Jenga game with the pieces just in a pile with some sharpie pens. Ask guests to add their wishes for the couple or words of advice onto the Jenga game pieces. This way, whenever the bride and groom play the game
Kisses Guessing Game
This is another easy game. Fill a large jar or vase with Hershey’s chocolate kisses and have slips of paper for guests to guess how many kisses are in the container. Whoever is closest wins!
Celebrity Couples Guessing Game
Have a printable of various famous celebrity couples and guests can try to guess who they are. Whoever has the most answers correct is the winner.
Dates Idea Booklet
Set up a space with slips of paper or an empty notebook for guests to write down date ideas for the happy couple. Everyone loves to give suggestions!
Advice Booklet
Have another empty notebook or cards for guests to write down pieces of advice for the bride and groom.
Wedding Song Request
Have some stock card, an empty notebook or slips of paper available for guests to write down wedding song requests that they’ll hopefully hear for the couple’s wedding. This is an easy way to get guests involved in the party with an easy question.
Where were they?
Set up a table or a space with photos of the couple during various vacations they’ve taken. Have game cards where guests can write down their guess of what destination each photo was taken at along with their name. “Grade” the cards near the end of the party and the person who guessed the most correct wins a small prize.

Wedding Pictionary
Create a game of wedding or relationship-themed Pictionary to get the entire group involved.
Wedding Charades
Similar to Pictionary, you can also create a Charades game based on weddings, romantic movies or popular love stories.
The Shoe Game
To play the shoe game, the couple sits back to back and then removing their shoes and swapping one shoe with the other person. So they will each have one shoe of their own and one shoe of their partner.
Then the person leading the game will ask questions where the answer is either the bride or the groom. Something like “Who said I love you first?” and then the bride and groom will pick up the shoe that corresponds with either their self or their partner.
It’s fun to see where the couple agrees and where they have some discrepancies.
The Newlywed Game
There are several ways to play the Newlywed Game, but I suggest planning it in advance and providing the couple with the newlywed questions list before the party so they can provide their answers.
Using that list of questions, the game host will kick off the game during the engagement party by explaining the rules and then asking the couple each question. They’ve already answered so they should provide their answer.
The questions are typically “Who is their celebrity crush?” and the couple has to guess how the other person would answer. Again, it’s fun to see who gets the answers right and where the couple disagrees.
You could also bring other married couples into the game and make it a friendly competition for the entire party. Whoever has the most correct answers wins.
Bridal Jeopardy
Create a wedding themed Jeopardy game to involve the crowd. You can split folks into groups and base the questions on the couple, romantic movies, books or any popular love story with points assigned to each question like the game show.
Outdoor Engagement Party Games
Yard Games
If you will be hosting the engagement party outside, then add in some fun yard games. You could have cornhole, giant jenga, croquet and more.
Flip Cup or Beer Pong
If you’ve got a younger crowd attending, or maybe everyone knows each other from college, you could go for a throwback vibe and play the beer drinking games from school like flip cup or beer pong.
Make it feel wedding themed by using silver or gold cups!
Ring Toss
A classic engagement party game would be the ring toss game!
Wedding Relay Race
If your crowd is younger and loves to get really playful, then this is the perfect engagement party game – a relay race! You’ll want to split up into at least two groups and then have a relay of various challenges. Like spinning around a baseball bat, potato sack racing, carrying a tray of water-filled glasses, etc.
You can add a wedding twist to this by using toilet paper to dress someone up in a fake wedding dress for one of the challenges or incorporate trivia around the bride and groom.
Interactive Engagement Party Games
Conversation Cards
I’m a big fan of conversation cards. I use them with my fiance and friends as they really help get conversation flowing. The questions can be serious, or you can opt for more fun topics.
You could create custom conversation cards for the event or purchase some online and have a few placed at each table to encourage conversation between guests.
Wedding Bingo
A classic game to incorporate would be a bridal bingo! It’s played similarly to regular bingo except instead of the squares being filled with numbers/letters, you fill the squares with fun facts about guests attending the event.
This helps guests to strike up conversation and get to know one another as they try to identify which fun fact is about which guest.
Bride or Groom
This is similar to the shoe game, but instead of just having the couple answer, you incorporate the entire party. So, you’ll ask questions of the guests with the answer being the bride or the groom and then let the couple give the answer.
Ring Hunt
Place plastic or paper rings all around the party space. Ask that guests do not move them, but instead count them. And then write their answer down on a slip of paper with their name. At the end of the party, whoever guessed the correct number wins.
Don’t Say Engaged or Wedding Game
“Don’t Say” is a common game for engagement parties and baby showers. For the engagement party, every attendee will get a plastic ring or another item that represents the couple (it should be small and inexpensive).
When guests hear another person use the forbidden word they get to take that item from that guest. You can choose whichever word or words you want to be forbidden, like engaged, wedding or bride and groom. At the end of the party, whoever has collected the most rings wins.
Unique Engagement Party Games
Casino Table Games
You can go for a fun casino vibe with the party and set up classic casino table games. Consider having a set up for Poker, Blackjack, Texas Hold ‘Em and any favorites of the couple.
Guess that Love Song
A game to get people riled up with music would be to play “Guess that Love Song!” Play 5 or 10s of a love song and have the crowd guess what song it is. They can either shout the answer or you can track it on game cards.
I’d suggest playing with at least five songs – you can include favorite love songs from the couple or just popular ones throughout the years.
Love Story Trivia
Play a game of trivia with the group, creating teams with trivia questions based on popular love stories.
Couple Crossword Puzzle
Create a custom crossword puzzle that features questions about the bride and groom, common love stories, romantic movies, long songs, etc. This is a nice game to have for the introverts!
Scratch-off Who Has the Bride & GROOM?
An easy, but unique party game idea is to get scratch-off cards featuring a bride and groom. Each card has the bride and grooms face covered with a scratch off and most copies are of random faces like celebrities, but one of them is actually the correct match up of the bride and groom.
Whoever, gets this scratch off wins! You can DIY these, but I recommend going to Etsy and having it done for you.
How to Make an Engagement Party Fun
Get people to mingle!
Keep in mind that all of your party guests likely do not know each other so take time to make moments for folks to mingle. As the party gets started, consider going around the room and having everyone introduce themselves and how they know the couple.
Or make a point to introduce each person or couple to another guest. And encourage everyone to introduce themselves as you start the fun engagement party games.
Have a good playlist
A party isn’t fun without some good music. Put on a playlist featuring the couple’s favorite artists or find a Spotify or Apple Music playlist for parties featuring new popular music.
Don’t Forget the Drinks and food
This is party planning 101, but be sure to have a good variety of snacks and appetizers for the group so no one goes hungry. And you’re pretty much guaranteed for the group to have fun if you’re serving up some good drinks. In addition to the games above, you could also check out these bridal shower games.
Where should the engagement party be held?
The engagement party can be held at a variety of locations. It can be held at the couple-to-be’s home, at the home of one of their parents, a friend’s or even a restaurant or bar.
