Guess What the Groom Said Bridal Shower Game Ideas

Wedding season is upon us and I already have a handful of wedding invites for the summer. Because I know I’m not the only one, I thought I’d share some wedding guest-related content as well as bridal party content. These are the years when we’re all attending bachelorette parties, baby showers, engagement parties, etc.!

First up is my favorite bridal shower (or bachelorette party) game: “Guess What the Groom Said.”

How to Play Guess What the Groom Said

It involves quizzing the bride-to-be and comparing her answers to the groom’s. It’s kind of like the Newlywed Game. You take a list of questions and email them to the groom. Then you just read off that list and quiz the bride to see if she guesses the correct answer.

You can find printables on Pinterest and Etsy for these or just do what I did, and send an email to the groom and print the answers to read yourself.

The questions range from simple like asking about their favorite food to funny and also sweet when you get to hear their responses to relationship questions.

The game is an easy way for all the guests to learn more about the couple and they can partake in guessing too.

Plus, even though some of the questions and answers can be funny, it’s not an overly embarrassing game so even a more shy bride will enjoy it too. In my opinion, it’s one of the most fun bridal shower games out there.

Can you play this game at a Bachelorette party?

We played this game at the bridal shower, but it also works for a bachelorette party. If you decide to play this at the bachelorette party, you could also challenge the bride to have a sip of her drink every time she gives an incorrect answer.

You could also play this game at a baby shower and just change the title to “Guess What the Dad Said” and use it as a moment to highlight the connection between dad and mom.

Here’s a list of questions you can send to the groom. You can cut questions that end up having boring answers or any ones that you think the couple wouldn’t want to answer. Or add your own too!

More Bridal Shower Game Ideas

Bridal Shower Bingo

Bridal Shower Bingo is actually one of the most popular bridal shower games out there and there are tons of printables online as well as templates on Canva.com to DIY your own.

There are also a few ways to play it. The most common way that it’s been played in the past is each guest receives a blank bingo card.

They fill out the bingo card with items that they think will be gifted to the bride. Guests will need to fill in each square with an item.

Then while the bride opens gifts, the guests will mark them off of their bingo card. Whoever gets five in a row first, shouts “Bingo!” and wins a prize.

If you’d rather not focus on gifts, you could instead fill the squares based on another theme like phrases the bride might say during the event.

Pass the Bouquet

Pass The Bouquet is just like musical chairs, but even easier and no one is jumping around on chairs.

So, instead of the game participants moving around chairs, you just pass a bouquet of flowers. Each person passes it to the next continuously. For the music, choose a favorite song of the bride’s or any popular wedding song.

Have guests sit in a circular shape and then start with the first person who will pass the bouquet to the next person and so on. The music plays as you start the game and once the music stops whoever is holding the bouquet is out. Then you keep going until there is no one left. The last person holding the bouquet wins!

You can choose a simple bouquet to pass around and then gift a nicer bouquet or something from my list of bridal shower prizes.

Mad Libs

When considering wedding shower games, I like to have a mix of interactive games as well as ones that guests can complete on their own. A game that guests can do on their own or in small groups during wedding showers would be a bridal-themed Mad Libs.

You can find free digital downloads of this game online or even make your own in Canva.

To play, have guests fill out the game cards on their own or in small groups. Then take turns reading them out loud. I also suggest collecting them at the end as a keepsake for the bride.

Scavenger Hunt

Another bridal shower game idea is a scavenger hunt. An easy way to play this is to incorporate it into the decor. Use a specific decor item, such as cut-out hearts, a wedding garter or something that represents the bride. You could also choose something that follows the same theme and style of the shower invites.

Incorporate that item throughout the decor in small and bigger ways. Then have guests go on a scavenger hunt to find them all and count them. Each person will submit their guess for the total number of that item in the room and whoever gets it or is closest wins the game.
