Video Game Tourney
My boyfriend is such a video game nerd that he would probably be happy to stay in most nights playing video games. Our favorite system is the WiiU and my favorite game is Mario Kart. It’s likely my favorite because it’s the only game at which I can actually beat my boyfriend. Choose a single game or several of your favorites and keep track of who wins. Games like Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros. would be better for this since the rounds of the game are short and it’s easy to track winners. However, even something like Legend of Zelda or Super Mario Bros. could work if you come up with your own point system.
Board Game Fun
The more the merrier for an evening of board game fun. My friends and I often go out when we spend time together, so it’s nice to make an effort to spend a casual night in to catch up on things and make new memories. Gather a variety of board games like Monopoly, Cards Against Humanity and some type of Trivia game, whether it’s a regular Trivial Pursuit or based on a favorite theme (like Harry Potter!). Make some simple snacks and have a relaxing night.
Arts & Crafts
There’s something about being stuck inside the house anxiously awaiting springtime that just makes me want to nest. I typically clean my closet out several times and try to reorganize my room. So why not get crafty and create something new to decorate your place? Plan this with a friend and you can each bring the supplies for one DIY. Here’s a few of my favorite craft ideas:

Spiked Hot Cocoa & Movie Marathon
Hot Cocoa is the classic winter drink. There’s no reason not to enjoy it before the season ends, because it’s definitely not a drink for warmer weather. Go all out and make some homemade hot cocoa from scratch and spike it if you’d like. Try one of these recipes or come up with your own. Personally, I’d go with some rich, dark chocolate and top it off with loads of marshmallows. Drink these while snuggling up for a movie marathon. My go-to “feel good” movie is You’ve Got Mail so it’d be on my list of movies to watch. What’s on yours?
Those are my ideas for fun nights in when the weather is gloomy. How do you brighten up your winter weekends? Let me know in the comments below.
