7 Ideas for a Cheap or Free Date Night at Home that you haven't tried yet!

As much as I love getting out in the city and checking out new places with my boyfriend, I do also really enjoy an evening spent at home. It’s relaxing to kick back and just focus on the one person or group of friends that you want to see so you can really catch up with each other. Instead of just a regular dinner and a movie, it’s nice to mix things up every now and then. Below are a few date night ideas for an evening in!

1. Around the World
Enjoy movies and cuisine of a specific country, whether it’s Italy, France or Thailand. If you want to make it easier for yourself you can even get the food from a restaurant! Bonus points if you try an authentic wine or cocktail. ?

2. Childhood Home Videos
Find your home videos from childhood and watch each others’. This might involve finding a VHS player, yikes! So put some extra planning into it if needed. Or go through some of your childhood pictures and mementos. Hopefully this leads to some new stories you haven’t heard about each others early lives.

3. Video or Board Game Night
This one is pretty self explanatory, but dig out some of your favorite video or board games and have fun. You can even keep track of who reigns supreme and the loser gets to clean up at the end of the night.

4. Backyard Barbecue
Complete with s’mores over the fire and watching the sun set. This is one you’ve got to try out before summer ends.

5. 90’s Night
Watch your favorite 90’s movies, play 90’s music and enjoy the favorite foods from your childhood. This can be changed to 80’s or even the 2000’s depending on your age.

6. Dance Party
I think taking dance classes would be SO fun, but a little intimidating. Instead, try watching YouTube tutorials and learning some steps at home. If you really enjoy it, then take the investment for classes from a professional.

7. Share Your Hobbies
This is one of my favorites. I love learning more about the things my boyfriend loves and he really enjoys attempting to teach me such things like guitar and how to play Zelda. Haha. I on the other hand like getting him to try new things like yoga or different cuisines because those things are really interesting to me. While it’s important to have separate interests and to do your own thing in relationships, it’s also fun to share your passions and hobbies with others which is why I love this idea.
